Voluntary Faculty Professional Development Workshop: Teaching & Learning for Diverse Learning Styles
Teaching and Learning for Diverse Learning Styles
Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 12 to 1 p.m. (lunch provided)
NU library basement
Students approach the learning process in diverse ways. To create a learning environment in which all students have the opportunity to thrive, educators should determine students’ learning styles and use that knowledge to help them adapt their study habits and skills to optimize their learning experience. But how can faculty accomplish this? This workshop will show you how to help students identify their individual learning style preferences. Why is this important? Studies have demonstrated that through teaching to students’ learning styles undergraduates increase their chances of succeeding in the academic environment. Second, this workshop will provide you with teaching strategies and classroom examples/activities suitable for each of the learning modalities that can assist you in modifying lesson activities that do not take up all of your prep or class time.
