Accounting Society, Alumni And Faculty Promote Accounting Careers To Local High School Students

The Accounting Society, led by Dr. Lei Han, assistant professor of accounting, has taken on a new task this semester in its endeavor to visit local high schools to provide students with a better understanding of the availability of careers in the field of accounting.

There is an expected 15.7 percent growth for the accounting profession and about 190,000 accounting and auditing jobs to be filled between 2010 and 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Looking to get the word out about the many great options available to students with an accounting degree, Dr. Han and four members of the Accounting Society – Emily Altier, Kevin Basta, McKenzie Botcher and Alicia Sowinski – recently visited Lewiston-Porter High School last month and spoke to the students, describing their experiences studying accounting and what life is like as an NU student.
