Departments of Biology & Biochemistry, Chemistry, & Physics Present Research at the 76th Annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference

Twelve undergraduate students and five faculty members from the sciences presented posters at the 2022 Eastern Colleges Science Conference at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Saturday, April 2.

John Pinti (’22, B.S. Chemistry) and Chloe Schrier (’22, B.S. Biochemistry) from Dr. Christopher Stoj’s lab presented research on iron complexes with applications to magnetic resonance imaging, theranostic technologies, and chemistry education.

Sarah E. Wojtas (B.S. Environmental Science, ’23), Arden A. Hepler (B.A. Environmental Science, ’24), Sarah Weiby (B.S. Biology, ’22), Emily O’Brien (Environmental Science, ’22), and Jacob Stablewski (B.S. Biology, ’22) from Professor Coleen Edwards’, Dr. William Edwards’, and Dr. Cassie Marnocha’s labs presented their work on the biogeochemical analysis of unique freshwater lakes and the diet of zooplankton in the Niagara River.

Olivia Mason (B.S. Biology, ’24), Katherine Tompkins (B.S. Biology, ’23), Sarah Weiby (B.S. Biology, ’22), Brandon Bruno (B.S. Biology, ’22), Maria Mudassir (B.S. Biology, ’22), and Alessia Quenneville (B.S. Biology, ’22) from Dr. Mark Gallo’s lab presented research on enzymes that digest carbohydrate structures with applications towards developing non-immunogenic universal blood for transfusion therapies.
