Gov. Cuomo’s Free Tuition Plan – We Need Your Help
As the president of Niagara University, I am deeply committed to providing an education that is accessible and affordable for all of our students. It is our focus each and every day. While I applaud Governor Andrew Cuomo’s effort to make higher education more affordable, I am deeply concerned with the overall direction that the Executive Budget has taken in this regard.
Any program that limits opportunities for students to find the best academic, social and career fit is incomplete. New York will hurt the very students it seeks to help if it embraces any initiative that denies low-income students Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) awards. Students deserve to have a choice.
We Need Your Help:
- In support of our e-advocacy letter writing campaign, I urge you to take action and send an electronic letter: www.limitlesslearningny.org/take-action. We need your help to significantly increase the total number of letters before the Legislature reconvenes this week.
- Find your elected officials on Twitter. Tweet, “Thank you for your continued support and fight for student aid! @niagarauniv #limitlesslearningNY #powerofchoice #powerofniagara”
- Leave a comment of support for universal financial aid on your elected officials’ Facebook pages.
Niagara University attracts talent through the quality and reputation of our university, and is an anchor institution in our region and in the state. It is critically important that the state not limit student choice.
Thank you in advance for your continued support of Niagara University.
With every good wish,
Rev. James J. Maher, C.M.
President
