Opening Mass: Tuesday, Sept. 24

In Today's Events, by , on September 24th, 2013

Our Opening Mass for the start of the new school year will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 11:05 a.m., in the upper level of the Gallagher Center.

The celebration of Mass at the beginning of our year is one of the most important traditions here at NU. It is a religious service central to the life of a Catholic and Vincentian university and an opportunity for faculty, students and staff of all faith backgrounds to come together as we celebrate this wonderful heritage that is ours. It is a time that allows us to pause, reflect, pray and wish each other greetings of friendship and peace.

Please remember that in accordance with university practice, classes scheduled to meet at 11:10 a.m. on Tuesday will be cancelled and most offices will be closed in order to encourage university-wide participation in the Mass. There should be no athletic practices, student events, departmental meetings or other competing events scheduled on campus during the Mass.

Please note: Supervisors are asked to determine whether personnel are needed to staff certain offices that provide essential services during this time.
